Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has pledged to help Lyon push for a top-four finish in the French league this season.

The forward, who joined Lyon from Arsenal last summer, has been one of the club's standout performers so far this campaign and is hoping to lead them to success in Europe.

Lacazette scored two goals against Nice in their opening game of the season and has continued his impressive form with another brace against St Etienne on Sunday.

He said: "It was a difficult game but we managed to get a result. We're all focused on the upcoming matches and I'm looking forward to helping the team reach our objectives."

Lyon have struggled to live up to expectations this season and currently sit just outside the top four, but Lacazette believes that they can still make a strong challenge for the Champions League places.

"We need to keep improving and working hard," he added. "We've got some tough games coming up, but I believe in us and I think we can do it."

Despite the club's struggles, Lacazette remains optimistic about their chances of success this season.

"I'm happy to be here and I want to give my best for the team," he said. "I know what I'm capable of doing and I'll try to use my experience to help the team."
